Intro
Men today think the Bible and God are one.
They believe that all the words of the Bible
were the only words God spoke,
and that they were all said by God.
Verse 1
Those who believe in God even think that
though men wrote the Old and New Testament books,
they were given by God’s inspiration
and recorded the Holy Spirit’s words.
This is faulty human understanding.
It’s not in accordance with real facts.
In fact, apart from the books of prophecy,
most of the Old Testament is past record.
Pre-chorus 1
Some New Testament epistles
come from people’s experiences;
some come from the enlightenment
given by the Holy Spirit.
Chorus
It’s a great mistake and blasphemy
that human records and epistles
are seen as the Holy Spirit’s words
spoken to the churches.
Verse 2
The Pauline epistles came from a man’s work,
from the Holy Spirit’s enlightenment.
They were all written for the churches
to exhort and encourage brothers, sisters.
These were not words from the Holy Spirit.
Paul couldn’t speak for the Holy Spirit.
He saw not John’s visions, nor was he a prophet.
The epistles were for the churches of his age.
Pre-chorus 2
His edifying, positive words
that he said to men were all right,
but they couldn’t represent God
or what the Holy Spirit uttered.
Chorus
It’s a great mistake and blasphemy
that human records and epistles
are seen as the Holy Spirit’s words
spoken to the churches, spoken to the churches.
